Relationships Matter

The Challenge:

A negligent construction case involved multiple parties who appeared to be connected, but the nature and extent of the relationships were not well understood. Our client, a trial attorney, had to decide which parties to name in the complaint.

The Result:

Legalis conducted a relationship link analysis between the parties involved. We identified a pattern of activity that connected two of the parties, and also analyzed both parties in terms of their motivations and vulnerabilities. It appeared that both parties were heavily involved in the subject matter of the complaint, yet both parties also had weak ties to each other and had incentives to turn against each other if they were named as co-respondents. Therefore, both parties were named in the complaint
